I have tried some eye area setting powders that within 20 minutes of applying, my under eye area looks 10x drier than they did before I applied the powder. Then it tends to gather in the fine lines. Who wouldn’t love that?
Not me for sure. But there are some great setting powders out there, that work perfect for any fine line areas of the face.
My big test with all of the powders, listed here (and that I have tried), does it make the under eye or crows feet look worse.
No7 Perfect Light Loose Powder Translucent is a finely milled, light powder that contains Vitamin E and hyaluronic acid (this acid brings moisture to the skin). It also contains talc, that is number 1 ingredient. Not that I think that is a bad thing, but I know someone people don’t like that, so I am mentioning it.
I think this powder is a very nice powder, at least on my skin, doesn’t add any dryness at all.
The T-zone area looks a little more “dewy” sometimes than I would like depending on my foundation (when I apply it all over). But I think that really is the point to this powder. It adds some hydration.
No7 Perfect Light Loose Powder Translucent doesn’t dry out the under eyes and doesn’t accentuate fine lines.
It isn’t my favorite powder to use with a really emollient under eye concealers like Boi-ing, so if you use a really emollient concealer, look to the others that I mention, below.
Bye Bye Pores Silk HD Anti-Aging Micro-Powder
A finely milled, great powder that doesn’t make the skin look dried out and old. It sets everything and you don’t even see it. It goes right into the skin and looks great through out the day.
The powder does have the best ingredients out of any powder, that I have seen. It contains hydrolyzed collagen, vitamins A, C, E & K, aloe, niacinamide and a peptide. This powder doesn’t contain talc.
IT cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Powder does have a higher price tag than some others, but it does contain the ingredients to go with it.
I can’t find anywhere that powder is going to do a whole lot for you skin even with these great ingredients. Not saying it could hurt either.
L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro Sweep & Lock Loose Setting Powder Translucent
This powder is very finely milled and sweeps beautiful under the eyes.
Beyoncé’s makeup artist, Sir Jon, promotes this item, according to him any powder you put under the eyes should be this light. I do not disagree.
L’oreal Infallible Powder is ultra light weight and does disappear into the skin like it should. So soft.
No, it doesn’t have the skin loving ingredients. This powder also contains talc. It actually doesn’t have many ingredients at all. The powder does have the Vitamin E and
hyaluronic acid (brings moisture to the skin), but not much else.
Sometimes, simple can be a good thing.
e.l.f. Smooth & Set Undereye Powder
This powder is also a pretty simple undereye setting powder. It doesn’t contain talc but it doesn’t really have anything to hydrate the undereye or dry parts of the face either. I wouldn’t say is a bad powder to set the under eyes.
It isn’t drying under the eyes that I have seen on my skin. This powder is finely milled as well, like all of the others.
Elf Smooth & Set Undereye powder does have a great price point, but I just wish it had a bit more to it.
Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder
This powder does contain talc, but it also contains Kaolin clay. This is a great clay for the skin. Tarte Smooth Operator Powder does have a few more ingredients than some, but not much. I would rate this one the same as all the others. Great finely milled powder for dry areas or fine lines.
As far as performance, they all do a great job and most of these look the same on the skin to be honest. Skin loving ingredients – It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Silk HD Anti-Aging Micro-Powder wins by far.
None of them are going to transform your completion. They will make it look smoother and set your makeup beautifully, without making any areas of the face, look dry or patchy.
