It is getting to be that time of year again, for camping, traveling, sporting activities and staying out too late just to enjoy the weather. Usually, in the summer, most people wear less makeup. But you still need to remove it no matter how tired you are, so the simplier the routine the better during this time.
This is when I use Philosophy – Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser quite a bit.
Philosophy – Purity Made Simple Facial One-Step Cleanser has a texture you would expect with any cleanser. It has a light yellow color. It has a very slight scent, but it is a fragrance free cleanser. I don’t feel a residue on my skin after I rinse it. I haven’t experienced any irritation or eye stinging, even though this cleanser is powerful. By powerful, I mean, it removes makeup, even waterproof mascara, sunscreen, oil and dirt. That is quite a lot for a non-stripping cleanser and all in one application.
water, sodium lauroamphoacetate, sodium trideceth sulfate, limnanthes alba (meadowfoam) seed oil, coco-glucoside, coconut alcohol, peg-120 methyl glucose dioleate, glycerin, carbomer, isopropyl alcohol, polysorbate 20, citric acid, imidazolidinyl urea, methylparaben, aniba rosaeodora (rosewood) wood oil, propylparaben, triethanolamine, amyris balsamifera bark oil, bulnesia sarmientoi wood oil, cymbopogon martini oil, pelargonium graveolens flower oil, rosa centifolia flower oil, santalum album (sandalwood) oil, daucus carota sativa (carrot) seed oil, mimosa tenuiflora bark extract, ormenis multicaulis oil, piper nigrum (pepper) fruit oil, salvia sclarea (clary) oil, fd&c yellow no. 5 (ci 19140).
Details on those ingredients
Sodium Lauroamphoacetate is a yellow substance derived from coconuts. It is used as a mild cleanser. I would guess that it may get some of it’s soft yellow color from this ingredient and the yellow no 5.
Sodium Trideceth Sulfate is a mild cleanser used in baby cleansers.
Meadowfoam seed oil is an antioxidant oil with a waxy feel. It has been compared to Jojoba oil which is actually a waxy that is closes to skin sebum.
The next two items are coconut derived again. Coconut is great for the skin and has picked up a great following in skin care especially in recent years. However, my daughter actually breaks out from coconut in most of her skin care products, but she has had no problem with this cleanser. We have used it for years and years.
It does contain parabens.
It also contains quite a few essential oils. Essential oils can be antibactial, antiviral and inhibit some bacteria. They also can be very irritating to sensitive skin. So you need to be aware of that if your skin is very sensitive. It doesn’t affect my sensitive skin or my rosacea at all.
It is like any other cleanser really, just rub around on a damp face. You don’t really need a lot of cleanser about nickel size. Rinse. No toner needed.
I am not sure about using it morning and night. I don’t think you would need that much cleansing on the skin. In the morning, you should just need a micellar water. However, you could use morning and night, without any sensitivity.
Philosophy – Purity Made Simple One Step Facial Cleanser has won awards from Allure, QVC’s Top Customer rated and 4.6 stars on Ulta.
Philosophy – purity made simple all in one-facial cleanser isn’t an inexpensive cleanser. You have to remember that it removes everything with really not a lot of product. So, if you add up what you use for a double cleanse or other cleanser (s) that you have to use twice to get everything off your face, it might be well worth it. Not to mention no toner and it has a bit of hydration to it.
$24.00 for 8oz (3.00 per ounce), $36.00 for 16oz (2.25 per ounce) at Ulta and QVC. QVC also has the 32 oz for $55.00 ($1.72 per ounce). Ulta has the travel size 3oz for $11.00.
Travel size is quite a bit more per ounce at $3.67. I love it for taking it with me everywhere in the summer. You can always refill it from the larger bottles and it is good packaging for taking with you, just a squeezy flip top bottle.
