The Ordinary's AHA 30%+BHA 2% Peeling Solution

The winter season has started to leave it’s mark on my skin. My skin looks dull. My foundation doesn’t lay right in some places. It just looks blah.

Time to do an exfoliation, but a very light and gentle one. I don’t want it to irritate my skin, especially since I am using Retinoids in my skin care routine.

As you can clearly tell from the name of the product is has AHA(s). It contains several AHA(s), Glycolic, Lactic, Tartaric and Citric Acids.

The main acid is Glycolic and it is formulated at a PH 3.5 – 3.7 level. That is a great PH level for peeling (otherwise, known as removing the glue that is holding the dead skin cells on) the skin.

It also contains a BHA (I know, it is in the name of the product, as well). Do you know which BHA it has in it? It contains Salicylic Acid. You can read a overview of acids in the post of Nip + Fab Exfoliate Pads.

Salicylic acid acts as a keratolytic, which loosens keratin (a protein that forms the structure of skin). This causes shedding of the outer layer of skin and breaks up dead skin cells. As this acid breaks up the cells, it promotes cell regeneration and rejuvenates your skin. It also has been shown to be effective in cleansers and other products. As it only needs to be on the skin for a very short time.

The Ordinary’s AHA30% + BHA2% Peeling Solution, also contains ingredients to help with the irritation and help to moisturized your skin.

Apply this in the PM after cleansing your face. Make sure your face is dry. If it isn’t the solution can penetrate deeper into the pores and will irritate the skin.

It states to leave it on for only 10 minutes. I have left it on for longer and it didn’t irritate my skin. (However, I don’t recommend leaving it on longer). It does sting a bit when you first apply it on the skin. Your face is a bit red after you take it off. I think that some of that is from the color of the peel. Although, I like the red color. You can see where you applied it.

Price Point

This product is $7.20 for 30ml (1oz) which is an extremely good price for this product. I purchase mine on the Deceim website. It is available at Sephora and Ulta, as well.

I put Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask (everyone knows I love this mask) and wake up with refreshed skin.

I try to keep up on my dull skin with applying the peel again in 4 days or by using one of the following daily:
