Timeless- Coenzyme Q10 serum is a great product to add to your skincare routine. In fact, all of the Timeless line is really good. They don’t have a big line of products, but what they have are products with proven ingredients. Timeless also keeps its formulas simple, which is great for sensitive skin. Another great thing about this company is that they put an mfg date on the packaging in big lettering. They also have information on the website regarding when they expire. For example, this product lasts for 2 years.
Timeless- Coenzyme Q10 Serum Ingredients (all are detailed out below):
Matrixyl 3000 – the product packaging states, ” potent anti-wrinkle ingredient used as an alternative to Retin A. Increases collagen synthesis up to 350%”.
Matrixyl 3000 is comprised of peptides, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide and Paolitoyl Tetrapeptide. These are supposed to encourage the release of collagen through fibroblast skin cells in the dermis.
Matrixyl 3000 is an ingredient being used in more and more skin care products for anti-aging. (It is found in Peter Thomas Roth’s line and The Ordinary’s line just to name a few). That is because of Matrixyl 3000, it is a patented peptide, which has shown to be effective in anti-aging.
Peptides. We are hearing that more and more in skincare. That is because there is more research that peptides are effective for anti-aging on the skin. A study by Professor Ian Hamley (University of Reading in the UK) on Matrixyl (mainly studied for wound healing), found that it increased collagen in the skin by double. Double. That is pretty amazing.
Ubiquinone – Also known as Coenzyme Q10 is found in every cell in your body. It is known to be an antioxidant or have antioxidant effects. It helps with keeping the proper function of your cells. Studies have shown that Coenzyme Q10 also goes down with age.
There are so many studies on this supplement regarding applying it topically to the skin. The skin and the skin cells do see improvement with this ingredient, as an antioxidant and as a cell repair agent. There are a few studies out there with this ingredient combined with retinol, and vitamin C that showed promising results for skincare. It would be nice to see more in the future.
Aloe Barbadensis – Aloe is a wonderful natural ingredient used in quite a few products. It can be taken straight off the plant (and diluted) and applied to the skin. It has been used in so many cultures for it’s healing properties. There are 20 minerals, 20 amino acids, 12 vitamins, and active enzymes. It is another ingredient that is good for sensitive skin.
Glycerin – is a humectant, meaning it attracts moisture to your skin. If you have overdone it with the exfoliation of your skin you can apply glycerin directly on your skin to help seal in moisture, but it is kind of sticky and you will have tremendous shine on your face
Hyaluronic Acid – is found naturally in the skin (eyes, joints, fluid in the body, and connective tissue) as well. It has a very high capacity for holding water. That is why it has become so popular in skincare products in recent years. It has the ability to hold moisture and water content in your skin.
Vitamin E – a vitamin with so many uses as well. It again is a natural skincare ingredient. Vitamin E has been used by many cultures for healing the skin and moisturizing the skin.
Benzylalcohol – it is found in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and some otc first aid products. In cosmetics, it can be found in skin products and perfumes, because of it’s aroma. It is also use as an anti-parasite ingredient. Because it is an alcohol, of course, it has a drying effect. I couldn’t find where it had a big impact on being very drying on the skin.
Dehydroacetic acid – an organic, white, powder compound that is used as a preservative in this product.
This is actually, a very short list of ingredients. This is great because I like to be able to recognize a few ingredients in a product. Timeless is similar to The Ordinary in that it has simple and proven ingredients. They differ in the fact, that Timeless has more complex formulas than most of The Ordinary’s line.
My 18-year daughter loves this serum. This product is available on the timeless website, http://www.timelessha.com. Its price point is $25.95 and that isn’t bad for a great serum. You know when it expires. The serum goes on smoothly. It dries quickly with no odor. It is just a simple great serum with proven ingredients and not an unnecessary load of ingredients just to make it have a higher price tag.
All in all, this adds up to a product that would add benefits to your skincare routine.
